Interchangeable part numbers for this profile. A solid node is already profiled in this catalogue; a hollow node is a valid substitute that has no profile yet.

Murata 0603 10 µF 6.3 V X5R. Nearly interchangeable; Murata's DC-bias curve holds about 8 % more capacitance at 3.3 V, which matters when the part is a switch-mode output capacitor sized at the edge of stability.
CL10A106KP8NNNC not yet profiled
Same capacitance on X5R with the same case but ±10 % tolerance. Buy it when matching is needed; it does not fix the DC-bias loss, which dominates over tolerance by a factor of five at 5 V.
CL21A106KAYNNNE not yet profiled
0805 version of the same value at 25 V. Bigger footprint and better voltage headroom; use it if the rail is above 6.3 V or if the layout has room, since the effective capacitance at 12 V is roughly triple the 0603 6.3 V part.
The only prose on this page
6.3 V is the absolute maximum working voltage, not a design margin. On a 5 V rail a 6.3 V X5R runs at 79 % of rating, where DC bias has already removed roughly 60 % of the nominal capacitance. That leaves about 4 µF of effective capacitance from a part sold as 10 µF. If the rail can ring to 6.5 V during a load step, go to an 0805 25 V part instead of adding a second 0603.
Switch-mode output capacitors are usually selected from the loop-stability table, which lists effective capacitance, not nominal. Substituting a 10 µF 6.3 V X5R for a 10 µF 16 V X7R at the same nominal value can cut the effective capacitance by 40 % and push a marginally compensated loop into oscillation.
Large-capacitance MLCCs in thin cases are sensitive to thermal shock. Above a 3 °C/s ramp the risk of micro-cracking rises sharply; the standard profile peaks at 260 °C with a 3 °C/s maximum ramp for this reason. Hand rework with a hot-air station at 400 °C will crack a 0603 10 µF reliably, so preheat and use 320 °C.

| Sourcing — Availability risk | High-capacitance MLCCs in small cases are the first to disappear in a shortage because they compete for the same base-metal-electrode lines as much larger values. 10 µF 0603 is available from Samsung, Murata, TDK, Yageo and Taiyo Yuden, so multi-sourcing is easy — but all five tighten at the same time during an allocation event. |

| Pinout and handling | Two-terminal, non-polarised, but electrically the part does have a soft preferred orientation: mounting it with the termination bands perpendicular to the current path reduces ESL slightly. On 0603 the difference is small enough to ignore; the more important habit is not to rotate a 10 µF 0603 next to a 10 µF 0402 and assume the same performance. |
