Interchangeable part numbers for this profile. A solid node is already profiled in this catalogue; a hollow node is a valid substitute that has no profile yet.
TSW-102-07-G-S not yet profiled
Samtec 2.54 mm single-row header with the same 0.64 mm square post. Dimensionally compatible with the same housing; Samtec offers more stack heights, which matters if the board-to-board gap is fixed.

Amphenol ICC header, tin-plated rather than gold. Cheaper for high-volume non-mating applications; the tin finish oxidises and the contact resistance rises after about 25 cycles, so it is not a substitute where the connector is repeatedly mated.
The only prose on this page
A 2.54 mm header contact is rated 3 A in free air, but the mated housing that goes over it is often rated lower, and the wire crimped into that housing lower still. For a 3 A load, use 22 AWG wire and a housing rated for it; a 2.54 mm header with 26 AWG ribbon cable is a 1 A connector regardless of what the header datasheet says.
Gold plating matters when the connector will be mated repeatedly in a humid or polluted atmosphere, because gold does not form an insulating oxide. Tin is fine for a connector mated once at assembly and never touched. Paying for gold on a permanently mated joint is waste; using tin on a connector the user unplugs is a reliability problem that appears two to five years in.
A two-position header is often used to join two boards, where the mated housing sets the gap. The Wurth series covers a range of body heights; specifying the height at the same time as the connector avoids the classic mistake of ordering a 2.5 mm header for a design that needs 8 mm of clearance.

| Sourcing — Availability risk | 2.54 mm headers are the most commoditised connector in existence, made by dozens of manufacturers at fractions of a cent per position. The Wurth part carries a gold finish and a datasheet; the no-name equivalent at a fifth of the price usually carries neither, and the difference shows up as intermittent contact after a few years. |

| Pinout and handling | Two 0.64 mm square posts at 2.54 mm pitch, designed to mate with any standard 2.54 mm female housing. The square post is what gives the contact its wipe; a round post of the same diameter has a smaller contact area and lower current capability. Pin 1 is normally identified by a square pad on the footprint. |
