Interchangeable part numbers for this profile. A solid node is already profiled in this catalogue; a hollow node is a valid substitute that has no profile yet.
UPW1H101MPD not yet profiled
Nichicon PW, 100 µF 50 V, 105 °C. Similar ESR, 5000 h life; the ripple rating is slightly lower at 470 mA, so it is a direct substitute only if the design has ripple headroom.
EEU-FS1H101 not yet profiled
Panasonic FS series, same can but 8000 h at 105 °C and about 30 % lower impedance. Costs roughly 25 % more and is the right choice if the capacitor is next to a hot regulator.
EEU-FR1H101B not yet profiled
Same capacitor with a straight-lead (non-crimped) configuration for 5 mm pitch mounting. Electrically identical; the substitution trap is mechanical, not electrical.

The 500 mA figure holds at 100 kHz and 105 °C ambient. At 120 Hz the allowable ripple drops by a correction factor of about 0.7, so the same can only handles 350 mA in a 50/60 Hz linear supply. Design a linear supply around the 120 Hz number and a switching supply around the 100 kHz number, and never mix the two.
The standard endurance formula multiplies rated life by 2^((Tmax - Ta)/10) (per Nippon Chemi-Con). Running this 105 °C part at 65 °C yields 5000 x 2^4 = 80,000 hours, roughly nine years of continuous operation. Running it at 95 °C yields only 20,000 hours, about 2.3 years. Moving a capacitor 20 mm away from a hot heatsink is often worth more than buying the next series up.
Below about 100 µF at 50 V, ceramics or polymer parts usually win on size and life. This 100 µF 50 V radial earns its place where you need energy storage at a low cost, where the ripple is above 300 mA, or where the board is repaired by hand and a 1210 ceramic would be impossible to replace without a hot-air station.

| Sourcing — Availability risk | Radial aluminium electrolytics are widely available, but the FR and FM low-ESR families have tighter manufacturing capacity than general-purpose series. Panasonic's own lead times on FR run 10-16 weeks in tight markets, so second-source with Nichicon PW or Rubycon ZL before you need to. |
|---|---|
| Pinout and handling | Polarised. The long lead is positive; the can also carries a printed stripe on the negative side. Reversing a 50 V electrolytic across a 50 V rail will vent it within seconds and the failure is violent enough to crack the can. On a two-layer board the polarity silk is on the top side only, so a bottom-side assembly needs the polarity called out in the drawing. |
